about

Cold snap comes on the heels of deep snow. A string of days below zero and we remember our bones. The cambium chorus creaks. Rory’s mix arrives the day the power company cuts trees along the road. We accept this and feel it. I count 95 rings on the fallen oak by Sam’s. I a/b the mixes note how delicate this one ended up despite its driving beat, Rory has coined it a “nylon boogie”. We complete the effort on a blue jay day, late January, new moon.

lyrics

Trying to be spacious
He closed his eyes
Thought of the hurt in all the cities

Was it broken
Or did it bend with time?
Forgot the pain had lost the pity

Sailing down
Never would I have come
To the land devotion lost
Giving power to a sun

Lying to the vagrant
In hymns forgot
Leaves a light on

Was it mine to take or yours to find?
Maybe the one who chose to give it.

Sailing down
Never would I have come
To the land devotion lost
Giving power to a sun
Giving power

Sailing down
Never would I have come
To the land devotion lost
Giving power to a sun
Giving power to a sun
Giving power
