I was there when they cried Out your name in that crowd I’d been wondering where you’d been If the high time had laid you down Was getting lost what brought you round? Tunnel vision grips my head In my time Time’s been mad Stumbling through my life Pondering the sky Sure don’t pay but some days I think it might So I hope and so I change Where I am day to day Following the wind Best that I can It ain’t let me down yet That’s a friend if I’ve known one What’s it to you if you ain’t Someone I could ask Something I can’t erase We made love but we can’t make it stay World is wide as I can dream Calls me out across the sea What is this machine? And what I am to do? It don’t work for me How ‘bout you? I was there when they cried Out your name in that crowd I’d been wondering where you’d been If the high time laid you down Was getting lost what brought you round?

Come To Stay 04:32
A sea not hard to part when you were Living as a child Watched you going out a ways Are you ever gonna come Come to stay? Are you ever gonna come Come to stay? A sky out of your reach when you were Living as a wild wild one Watched you going past the break Are you ever gonna come Come to stay? Are you ever gonna come Come to stay? Often our familiar grasp Takes away the clarity “I suffered long enough” he said Counting on his bravery Staring in the water sharp enough he saw a stranger Ripple out from under Where his eyes were met with anger Crying “this is not my last, this is not my last…” Crying “this is not my last, this is not my last…” Are you ever gonna come Come to stay? Are you ever gonna come Come to stay?

Under It 02:58
With the weight of influence Tugging on his sleeve Trying hard to mean it Grinning through the teeth Softening the edge of a hard, hard stone Used to take a while Then it was gone Must have broke off Where you left it For someone else To hold up Cause it ain’t With you now The malice on his breath Tried its best to hide But came seeping through the sides of words with no need to lie Used to come so easy That reckoning Really ain’t much different now You just gotta dig Must have broke off Where you left it For someone else To hold up Cause it ain’t with you now No it ain't with you now Must have broke off Where you left it For someone else To hold up Cause it ain’t with you now

Wind Up 03:38
Was a dark star rattling on Thought you had more than a heart to hold But no Thought you had more but no Was a pale moon leading the way Thought it’d be more like a bright light gaze But no Thought it’d be more like home Thought it was a bridge To the morning sun Tangled by the breath In the evening dusk Wind it up Get it back No - wear it out Take his old familiar role No - let her in Wind it up Get it back No - wear it out Take his old familiar role No - let her in

See Through 04:12
You’re riding it now And how about that A couple of years looking back Some other time It might have crossed It might have let you be But you’re riding in it now All the way down Comes no surprise Nobody told you it would come out when you speak There’s nothing you can do… A boy turns his head and finds he has it But swing it long enough and someday you’re bound to miss Just like him He was calling after it Gone to see it through He was just like you Well you’re riding it now Same as us Trouble making time Nobody told you it would hurt you to be kind Or maybe they did… A boy turns his head and finds he has it But swing it long enough and someday you’re bound to miss Just like him He was calling after it Gone to see it through He was just like you He was calling after it Gone to see it through He was just like you A boy turns his head and finds he has it But swing it long enough and someday you’re bound to miss Just like him He was calling after it Gone to see it through Just like you He was calling after it Gone to see it through Just like you

Leave this road behind It ain’t headed where I like It ain’t headed where I like Captured by its wandering way I ain’t taking it no more I ain’t taking it no more Swallowed in the waters again I won’t ever be alone I won’t ever be alone

about

Party of the Sun is a psychedelic folk band from New Hampshire, comprised of Ethan McBrien, Rory Hurley, and Garrett Cameron. Writing and recording in various nature-bound locations, such as a small New England sheep farm, the band has released two EPs and two full-length albums over the span of just a few years.

After releasing their sophomore album Fullest Hour, the band had a moment of clarity in their approach to writing and sharing their music. Singer and songwriter Ethan McBrien explained that while the album process can be gratifying, it can have its limitations. Together the band opted to start writing new material without the restriction of being tied to any specific project or album.

This newfound creative freedom prompted a deliberate and mystical approach to the songwriting process. With the casting of a die, the band devised a chance-based system to select which song is produced each month. The selected song is to be completed by the subsequent full moon, to then be released by the next half-moon.

We see this as an ongoing effort to spark creativity and foster a deeper connection with our listeners. A way to reimagine our workflow and allow new creative doors to open. - McBrien

Party of the Sun has announced that these monthly releases will be compiled in a series of EPs under the aptly-titled Capsule. The first of these compilations, Capsule I, will be released on March 10th.
